About the Author
I am positive I am living my life’s purpose, spreading hope and connecting people to their personal nutrition with food. One of my earliest memories includes, sitting in my grandma’s garden eating raw rhubarb. Then on to high school where I memorized every calorie in all food items. In college, I began as a Business major and after one nutrition course, the AH-HA moment happened and I received my B.S. in Nutritional Science. Having acne and digestive disturbances from a young age definitely guided this course and assisted my path to freedom. The next AH-HA moment happened when I was working for a physician and we were struggling trying to assist people in making lifestyle changes. I was so frustrated that I went on a two day fast to find clarity, and then it hit me; Nourishment isn’t outside of us but comes from within. A dear friend gave me the Conscious Nutrition domain site and off we went. The Conscious Nutrition Philosophy & Program integrates real life experiences and suggestions to support others to live a life saturated in vitality and nourishment. Conscious Nutrition focuses on nutrition, conscious thoughts , relationship with food and freedom from diet and restriction. “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it -even if I have said it – unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”- The Buddha

Heather is a great writer with insiteful information. I am always trying to improve my nutrition and this book is a wonderful resourse. Everyone should own a copy!

$35.02 For a Diet Book?

I admit that I only looked at the free sample "look-inside" preview here on Amazon. Seeing the book was $35, I figured it must be really, really amazing and cutting edge for so hight of a price, so I wanted to see if it was worth my purchase at that price. I took some time to carefully peruse the preview pages. Sadly, everything I saw here seems not so new, not so unique, and some of it not-so-good-at-all (agave as a recommended sweetener? NOT! Look it up online to see that it is as bad as high fructose corn syrup). I think it's good that she emphasizes eating well, eating a lot of good nutrients~especially vegetables, and eating healthy fats and protein while minimizing commonly allergenic or binge-triggering grains, but that's it about it, and it's been written elsewhere for a lot less out-of-pocket expense. While she also has a kinder, gentler emotional approach than the typical "whip yourself into shape" diet mentality, her pat ideas about being kind to yourself, etc...as I said, also nothing new under the sun. I do appreciate that perspective of making ones food bountiful and not the enemy...I think if the book were not twice the price of every other diet book out there, I might have added one more star to my review as it's as good as many typical books out there, but the cost for something not that useful was what made it such a thumbs-down.

It wasn't what I needed. I wasn't aware of it's content. I probably would be better looking in a book store.
