Debashish Irengbam is a Mumbai-based scriptwriter who has written scripts for shows aired on Star TV and MTV and has also worked in the creative department of UTV Motion Pictures. He is currently writing his first full length feature. This is his first novel.

A good, enjoyable read

Debashish Irengbam's Me,Mia, Multiple was a fun ride. As the blurb clearly states, this is the story of Jeevan Raikar, who is rescued from his latest suicide attempt by a rather odd girl, Mia D'Costa. From there on begins the hilarious and bizarre ride of a suicidal man and a girl who has her own issues. Alternatingly funny and dark, this is a fun read that makes you turn the pages because you are eager to know what misadventure awaits Jeevan in the next pages and Debashish doesn't disappoint. The story moves at a fast pace and keeps you hooked. The writing is flawless and the flashbacks are incorporated flawlessly. Definitely an author to watch out for.
eally I'd give the book 4.75 stars but sadly Amazon doesn't let me do that and I could not take away from the wonderful book by rating it 4 stars, so 5 stars it is.

I read this book over the weekend. Was looking for a few pages to read so I could fall asleep but was hooked after the first few pages. (I read it on my wife's Kindle). Debashish Irengbam's narrative style is what makes Indian writing such a joy to read - like a friend telling you a story. Humorous and hopeful despite all the tragedy - some of it rubbed off on me. What got me was that while I expected the book to have a happy ending (statistically speaking, for this genre), at one point I wasn't so sure anymore. Because the author managed to convince the protagonist, and me, that life is worth living regardless of circumstances. Hope there's a Bollywood version soon.
